Sto diventando abbastanza bravo a fare il pane, quindi mi sento in grado a questo punto di darvi qualche consiglio.

Ho sperimentato un po’ con la pasta madre o lievito naturale, che e’ semplicemente un composto di acqua e farina lasciato a fermentare, questo composto si usa come lievito per fare il pane.

Per capire come fare la pasta madre, sono partito da questo video, e dalla seguente ricetta:

200gr. di farina forte
90gr. di acqua

Impastate tutto e lasciate in una ciotola coperta per due giorni in cucina vicino al cesto della frutta.

Dopo due giorni rinfrescate prendendo 100gr. del composto (buttate il resto), 100gr. di farina, 45gr. di acqua e questo è appunto il RINFRESCO. Con queste proporzioni farete tutti i rinfreschi.

Trascorsi i due giorni se il lievito non si è mosso bisogna ricominciare e buttare tutto.

Se invece esso è cresciuto siamo arrivati a un buon lievito naturale che ora rinfrescheremo per una settimana una volta al giorno e cosi’ sara’ pronto.

A questo punto possiamo dire che abbiamo la nostra madre che dobbiamo rinfrescare ogni due giorni se la teniamo a temperatura ambiente e ogni 4 se la teniamo in frigo.

The camper name

A friend told me I must give my camper a name, but I still didn’t came up with a proper one.
I spend some time this summer renewing the interior, creating a proper storage space for the surf board, and rearranging things in a more functional way. I just love putting my hands on those kind of constructions, involving mathematics, geometry and aesthetic, is pretty much like setting up a grid for a graphic layout, but a three dimensional one.
I’ll go next week to Italy with my camper, and I better come up with a name for the inauguration of the new interiors. Any idea for a name of the camper is welcome.

HI-FI flyers process

I’m working on the design for HI-FI, a reggae sound system hosted by my pal Kraze.
It’s interesting because it will be printed with a combination of techniques, is going to be a two colors print, probably on yellow paper with an additional black color added later passing the finished flyers into a photocopy machine, this choices conditioned by a low budget, will probably give us an interesting result, which I’m looking forward to see and share with you.
The two colors print is going to be special, it will be executed on a Risograph, in a process that involves real ink, giving very brilliant colors.
I’ve executed the drawings with a Japanese ink stick on a special blotting paper, so the drawings looks fat and soft.

Ragazzi ho fatto il pane a casa con il lievito naturale! Mi e’ venuto perfetto, con le bolle irregolari dentro e croccante fuori; una bomba!
Erano mesi che non mangiavo il pane con questo sapore, molto vicino se non meglio del pane comprato al forno a Roma.
Me lo sono gustato ancora tiepido con una fetta di prosciutto sdraiata sopra; piccole cose che fanno un immigrato ad Amsterdam un immigrato felice.

Drawing Italians

Playing around with some more portraits. Here I decided to portray a series of Italian character; people that I like, I respect or I have sympathy for.
The aim was to capture on a quick drawing the essence of a face, getting that “thing” that makes a portrait looks like the portrayed. This was not an exercise in copying, but searching the secrets of a face.
Executed in charcoal this drawings are made as fast as I could, each one was made in about 30 minutes; still too long for what I wanted to do, but trying to get faster.

World cup South Africa 2010

Here some portraits of football players I’ve done so far, I’m still working on it, getting ready in my way to the coming world cup in South Africa.
They are quickly made drawings, using an inking nib, which is a tool I’d like to master, well; maybe just fell comfortable with it. Differently as I did lately when I used charcoal, ink doesn’t give room for errors, when you do a stroke, that’s it, not going back and corrections aloud, so it improves confidence and it’s a very good exercise.

Using charcoal

On the preview post, i show you some portraits I made using charcoal.
Now I want to show on video a couple of them, to explain briefly how do I use tree simple tools; charcoal pencil, charcoal chalk and eraser.

PS: I couldn’t resist on putting on one of the movie the song quiero que me quieras, from Rudo y Cursi movie that I’ve just saw, very funny!

AS Roma football team did a grate job this last season, and gave to me; as I think to all Roma supporters, the opportunity to live grate moments.
With Roma this year we could joy a lots of success and cry very few tears, which I think are also moments when our faith gets stronger.
Anyway, I wanted to homage this grate year of Roma, by doing the portraits of all the players, with the spirit of grabbing just a black “thing” from my pencils case and quickly draw.
